UFER General Assembly

The UFER General Assembly will take place from 18 to 23 September 2010 in Brussels, Belgium.  It will be divided in two parts:

  • A seminar on the theme: Immigration and human rights which will deal with issues such as religious diversity and anti-discrimination training/awareness, cultural relativism and universality of human rights, women trafficking.

 A conference by Mrs Ndioro Ndiaye, former Deputy Director General of the International Organization for Migrations (IOM) will open the seminar, on Sunday 19 September in the afternoon.

Earthquake in Haiti

Paola Iten, UFER member, was in Haiti when the earthquake struck on 12 January. She got involved right away in emergency assistance. She has sent us some news, attached, and calls for our solidarity. UFER will support efforts for emergency assistance and reconstruction in Haiti within the means at its disposal.

Conference on Climate Change, 7 to 18 December, 2009, in Copenhagen

Developments in the world since the Kyoto Protocol was negotiated in 1997 show that a new agreement is needed. The aim of the United Nations Conference COP15, which will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark, from 7 to 18 December, is to reach an ambitious global agreement allowing a reduction of the total emission of greenhouses gases, to be endorsed by as many countries as possible. Durban review conference

The Durban Review Conference concluded, on 24 April, with the adoption of an outcome document on the efforts to be further undertaken to combat racism. The document can be found on the website of the Conference :
